Social Connections at a Memory Cafe
I just saw this on Facebook this morning...a short film of people living with memory loss, describing what it's like for them. They are a group of people in Seattle who meet regularly just to hang out in a comfortable place and share their ups and downs. Sound familiar? It's what we have seen happening at our own Montpelier Café here in Vermont, ever since it began in January of 2014. I am sure you will feel encouraged and enlightened after watching this video. Until we meet again this fall, please enjoy this "virtual" group!
Here's what the group's website had to say about the film:
Film about Living with Memory Loss
Out of the desire be advocates, members of The Gathering Place program who are living with memory loss, chose to create this short documentary, Living with Memory Loss: In Our Own Words.
Memory loss currently carries immense stigma, fear and shame, so they wanted to share some more holistic narratives about their experiences. It is powerful to hear the voices and wisdom of people living with memory loss and we hope that their fiercely open-hearted, humorous and hopeful messages have a positive impact.
