Live Music at May Memory Cafe!
Montpelier Memory Cafe was filled with music on Saturday, May 14th, when the Heaton Woods band performed.
Featuring our friend Kirby Nickels on drums, the band practices and jams together at Heaton Woods Assisted Living in Montpelier.
Research into the benefits of music for people living with dementia concludes that "Music has power—especially for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. And it can spark compelling outcomes even in the very late stages of the disease. When used appropriately, music can shift mood, manage stress-induced agitation, stimulate positive interactions, facilitate cognitive function, and coordinate motor movements." - Alzheimer's Foundation of America
